A redesign of a property in Pleasant Hill, with new hardscape framing the spaces and a softscape palette built around California natives. The site asked for plants that could earn their place — handling the local conditions and dry summers without constant intervention.
Natives answered the brief. Carpenteria californica anchors the planting with white flowers and clean, evergreen form. Achillea millefolium ‘Sonoma Coast’ carries movement and seasonal texture across the beds. Ceanothus ‘Concha’ brings the saturated blue bloom that signals California in spring. Together they read as a landscape rooted in the region — composed, but unmistakably of this place.
