LOCATION: Lafayette, California | ZONE: 9b

COBBLESTONE: ORCA

BRICK: H.C. Muddox

LANDSCAPE DESIGNER: Dena Rochelle

LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT: Suzie Lofting

PLANT MATERIAL | Asparagaceae, Boraginaceae, Fabaceae, Lamiaceae, Polypodiaceae

Existing: Sequoia sempervirens + some screening Oleander along the driveway.

NEW highlights: Olea europaea ‘Wilsonii’ | fruitless olive, Acacia Podalyriifolia | Pearl Acacia, Garrya elliptica 'James Roof' | Coast Silk Tassel, Lavandula stoechas 'Silver Anouk', Muhlenbergia capillaris Plumetastic | Pink Muhly

A full landscape redesign starting from near-zero — the existing pool filled in, most of the site cleared, only a portion of the perimeter planting preserved. The brief covered a lot of ground.

For the front: a welcoming, functional approach to complement the home’s new façade. For the back: a retreat in the truest sense — outdoor kitchen, entertaining areas, and a dedicated wellness corner with sauna, cold plunge, outdoor shower, and fireplace. And space throughout for the family’s St. Bernard and his canine companion to enjoy.

The design leans into a Mediterranean wine-country sensibility — warm, considered, and built to age gracefully.

Design completed: Fall 2025. Build: 2026.
